Title
Plants and seeds of corn variety CV405805
Abstract
According to the invention, there is provided seed and plants of the corn variety designated CV405805. The invention thus relates to the plants, seeds and tissue cultures of the variety CV405805, and to methods for producing a corn plant produced by crossing a corn plant of variety CV405805 with itself or with another corn plant, such as a plant of another variety. The invention further relates to corn seeds and plants produced by crossing plants of variety CV405805 with plants of another variety, such as another inbred line. The invention further relates to the inbred and hybrid genetic complements of plants of variety CV405805.
Claims

What is claimed is:

1. A plant of corn variety CV405805, wherein a sample of seed of corn variety CV405805 has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-121461.

2. A plant part of the plant of claim 1.

3. The plant part of claim 2, further defined as pollen, an ovule or a cell.

4. A seed of corn variety CV405805, wherein a sample of seed of corn variety CV405805 has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-121461.

5. The seed of claim 4, further comprising a transgene, wherein the transgene was introduced into corn variety CV405805 by at least 5 generations of backcrossing or by genetic transformation.

6. A composition comprising the seed of claim 4 comprised in plant seed growth media, wherein a sample of seed of corn variety CV405805 has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-121461.

7. The composition of claim 6, wherein the growth media is soil or a synthetic cultivation medium.

8. An F.sub.1 hybrid seed produced by crossing a plant of corn variety CV405805 according to claim 1 with a second, distinct corn plant.

9. The F.sub.1 hybrid seed of claim 8, wherein said plant of corn variety CV405805 comprises a transgene that is inherited by the seed, wherein the transgene was introduced into corn variety CV405805 by at least 5 generations of backcrossing or by genetic transformation.

10. An F.sub.1 hybrid plant grown from the seed of claim 8.

11. A plant produced by introducing a single locus conversion into corn variety CV405805, or a selfed progeny thereof, wherein the single locus was introduced into corn variety CV405805 by at least 5 generations of backcrossing or by genetic transformation, wherein the plant comprises the single locus conversion and otherwise comprises essentially all of the morphological and physiological characteristics of corn variety CV405805, and wherein a sample of seed of corn variety CV405805 has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-121461.

12. The plant of claim 11, wherein the single locus conversion comprises a transgene.

13. A seed that produces the plant of claim 11.

14. The seed of claim 13, wherein the single locus confers a trait selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide tolerance, insect or pest resistance, disease resistance, modified fatty acid metabolism, abiotic stress resistance, altered seed amino acid composition, site-specific genetic recombination, and modified carbohydrate metabolism.

15. The seed of claim 14, wherein the herbicide tolerance trait is tolerance to an herbicide selected from the group consisting of glyphosate, sulfonylurea, imidazalinone, dicamba, glufosinate, phenoxy proprionic acid, cycloshexone, triazine, benzonitrile, PPO-inhibitor herbicides and broxynil.

16. A method of producing a seed of a progeny plant derived from the corn variety CV405805, the method comprising crossing a plant of corn variety CV405805 according to claim 1 with a corn plant of a second variety to produce at least a first seed.

17. The method of claim 16, further comprising the steps of (a) crossing a plant grown from said seed with itself or a second plant to produce a seed of a progeny plant of a subsequent generation; (b) growing a progeny plant of a subsequent generation from said seed and crossing the progeny plant of a subsequent generation with itself or a second plant; and (c) repeating steps (a) and (b) with sufficient inbreeding until a seed of an inbred corn plant derived from the corn variety CV405805 is produced.

18. The method of claim 17, further comprising crossing said inbred corn plant derived from the corn variety CV405805 with a corn plant of a different genotype to produce seed of a hybrid plant derived from the corn variety CV405805.

19. A method of producing a commodity plant product, the method comprising obtaining the plant of claim 10 or a part thereof and producing said commodity plant product therefrom.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the commodity plant product is grain, starch, seed oil, corn syrup, or protein.
